Yori works in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone, and adapts its layout to your screen. It also supports keyboard use, screen readers, voice dictation, dark mode and your device's reduced motion setting.
Use Yori on a phone or tablet
Yori changes its layout on narrower screens, such as phones and small tablets in portrait.
The sidebar
- The sidebar is hidden so your work gets the whole screen.
- Select Open sidebar (the panel icon at the top left) to slide it in over the page.
- To close it, select Close sidebar next to the Yori logo, or tap outside the sidebar.
- Choosing an item in the sidebar takes you there as usual.
On larger screens the sidebar stays on the left, and you can collapse or resize it. See Workspace navigation.
Projects
On a computer, a project shows the chat and the open document side by side. On a phone, it shows one at a time, either the chat or the document, so each has room to read and edit. See Projects overview.
The message box placeholder is shorter on a phone: "Ask Yori anything". It works the same way: type / for the menu, @ for files and $ for services.
Settings and windows
- Settings fills the whole screen on a phone, with its own header to move between sections.
- The Projects window adds a sort menu at the top, and lists projects in a layout that fits a narrow screen.
- The welcome window scrolls if it doesn't fit your screen.
Signing up on a small screen
The sign-up and sign-in pages show the form on its own on smaller screens. The brand profile preview and illustrated panel only appear on larger screens. Every step works the same way. See Getting started.

Resize the sidebar with the keyboard
The sidebar's right edge is a control called Resize sidebar. Move to it with Tab, then:
- Press the left or right arrow to make the sidebar narrower or wider. Hold
Shiftfor bigger steps. - Press
Homefor the narrowest width orEndfor the widest. - Press
Enterto collapse or expand the sidebar.
Use a screen reader
Yori labels its controls so screen readers can describe them. For example:
- Icon buttons have names such as Open sidebar, Expand sidebar, Close and Start dictation.
- The notifications bell and What's new tell you how many items are unread.
- The welcome window's dots read as "Go to slide" followed by the slide number and title.
- Each box for your sign-up code is labelled with its digit number, and the 6-digit code can be pasted in one go.
- Error messages are linked to the field they belong to, and important alerts are announced.
- When the sidebar is collapsed, the Get started button reads out your progress, for example "Get started, 2 of 7".
If you find a control without a clear name, please tell us. See Report a problem.
Dictate instead of typing
The message box has a microphone button, Start dictation. Select it, speak, then confirm to turn your speech into text, or select Discard dictation to throw it away. Your browser asks for permission to use the microphone the first time. Dictation uses a small amount of your workspace's credits, so it stops working when the workspace is out of credits.
If dictation doesn't work, you may see one of these messages:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Microphone access is blocked. Allow it in your browser settings to dictate." | Allow microphone access for Yori in your browser, then try again. |
| "We didn't pick up any audio. Check your microphone and try again." | Check that the right microphone is connected and not muted. |
| "That recording is too long. Try a shorter one." | Dictate in shorter pieces. |
| "Dictation isn't supported in this browser." | Use a different, up-to-date browser. |
| An out-of-credits message, such as "You're out of credits." | A billing admin adds credits in Plans & credits. See Out of credits. |
Change how Yori looks
Open Settings and choose Appearance to pick a theme:
- Light
- Dark
- System, which matches your device's setting
The theme applies to the browser you're using. See Appearance and tips.
To make text and controls larger, use your browser's zoom: ⌘ and + on a Mac, or Ctrl and + on Windows. Yori's layout adjusts as you zoom, and switches to the small-screen layout at high zoom levels.
Reduce motion
Yori uses small animations when windows open, cards move and steps change. If you turn on your device's reduce motion setting, Yori keeps these to a minimum. On a Mac, it's in System Settings, Accessibility, Display. On Windows, it's in Settings, Accessibility, Visual effects, Animation effects.
Report a problem
If something in Yori is hard to use with your device, keyboard, screen reader or settings, tell us so we can fix it.
- Open Settings and choose Send feedback.
- Describe the screen and the control, what you expected, and what happened.
- Include your device, browser and any assistive technology you use.
Avoid including private project content unless it's needed to explain the problem. See Help and feedback.
