The Brand Profile page is where you review what Yori wrote, correct it and keep it current. It reads like a document: a short summary, then each section in turn. You edit one section at a time and save it when you're ready, and every saved change is kept in version history so you can go back.
Only the person who created a Brand Profile can edit it. If someone shared a profile with you, you can read every section, open its sources and view its version history, but the editing controls don't appear.
Open a Brand Profile
Open Knowledge, select Brand profiles, then select the profile in the list. To go back, select Brand profiles above the profile name.
What you'll see
Header
- The mark and name: the business's website icon or logo, or its first letter, then the profile name. If you created the profile, select the name to rename it.
- The line under the name: the website, which opens in a new tab, and a status when there is one, such as Building, Setup not finished, Not finished, Used in new projects or Shared by and the owner's name.
- Who can use it: Only you or Shared with team. If you created the profile, select it to change who can use it. Everyone else sees View only. See Share Brand Profiles.
- Brand kit: opens the profile's brand kit. If it doesn't have one, the creator sees Make a brand kit instead. See Brand kits.
- Brand profile actions (the three dots), a menu with:
- Version history
- Rebuild from website, or Continue setup for a profile that was saved but never built (creator only)
- Delete (creator only)
On a phone, the menu opens as a sheet from the bottom of the screen. When you scroll down, a slim bar stays at the top with the profile name and the menu.
The profile
The profile opens with At a glance: a one-line summary of the business and What stands out, up to three numbered points that set it apart. Then come five sections:
| Section | What you'll read |
|---|---|
| Positioning | What they do, Why it matters, How they work and Values, plus Mission and What makes them different when Yori found them |
| What they sell | A summary, then each offering marked Product, Service or Package, with its name and one sentence |
| How they work with customers | Overview when there is one, then Selling, Delivery and Support |
| How they sound | The tone of voice, five voice dials and example lines under Sounds like |
| Why people trust them | Customers and Partners, plus Accreditations, Certifications, Awards and Notes when there are any |
The voice dials show where the brand sits between two words on a scale from 1 to 10. The word it leans towards is darker.
| Dial | Low end | High end |
|---|---|---|
| Formality | Casual | Formal |
| Technical depth | Plain | Technical |
| Warmth | Reserved | Warm |
| Directness | Gentle | Direct |
| Authority | Humble | Authoritative |
Fields Yori couldn't fill show Not found yet. If you created the profile, select Add next to it to open that section for editing.
The side panel
On wider screens, a column beside the profile shows:
- On this page: links to At a glance and each section. A marker slides to the section you're reading.
- Details:
- Gaps to fill, such as 3 gaps to fill, with Show me to jump to the first one (creator only).
- Use in new projects, a switch with the hint "New projects start with it picked" (creator only).
- On a profile shared with you, a note such as "Only Sam can change this".
- Who can use it: Only you, Whole team or Only the owner.
- Created by: who made it and when.
- Built from: how many web pages and notes Yori read.
- Last updated.
- Version history and Rebuild from website (creator only) at the bottom.
Check where a detail came from
Next to many fields is a small sources button showing a count, such as 2 sources. Select it to open Where Yori found this: each web page or document Yori used, with the passage it relied on. Select a web page to open the original.
Edit a section
- Select Edit on the section you want to change. The section opens in a panel with editable fields, and the line under its title reads "Changes save when you press Save. Yori uses them from the next message."
- Make your changes:
- Text fields: type straight into them.
- Values: type a value and press
Enterto add it. Select the cross on a value to remove it. - Lists such as What stands out, Sounds like, Partners and Customers: use the Add button under the list, such as Add something that stands out or Add a customer, and the remove button on a row to take it out.
- What they sell: edit the Offerings summary, then each row's Kind (Product, Service or Package), Name and In one sentence. Select Add something they sell for a new row.
- How they sound: edit the Tone, drag the sliders under Dials, and add example lines under Sounds like.
- Select Save, or Cancel to leave the section as it was.
The section shows Saved for a moment. If you try to open another section, or cancel, with unsaved changes, Yori asks Discard your changes to the section, and tells you how many fields you've edited. Select Keep editing or Discard.
In Positioning, the editor also includes In one line, the summary at the top of the page. You can't edit while Yori is building or rebuilding the profile.
Rename a Brand Profile
- Select the profile name. Its tooltip reads Rename.
- Type the new name.
- Press
Enterto save, orEscto cancel. Selecting elsewhere also saves.
If the name doesn't save, you'll see Name not saved.
Rebuild from the website
Rebuilding writes the profile again from the business website and documents. It uses credits.
- Select Rebuild from website in the side panel or the Brand profile actions menu.
- In Rebuild followed by the profile name, read the note: Yori reads the website again and writes the profile afresh, replacing what's there now.
- Select Rebuild, or Cancel.
Your current version stays in version history, so you can restore it if you prefer it. While Yori rebuilds, you'll see the Building this profile panel. You can select Stop building to cancel. See Create a Brand Profile.
Version history and restore
Yori saves a new version each time the profile changes.
- Select Version history. A panel opens from the side: "Every change to" the profile "is kept here."
- Versions are grouped by day, newest first. Each shows what happened (Created, Edited, Built from website, Restored an earlier version or Saved), the time and its version number. The newest is marked Current.
- Select an older version, then Restore this version.
- Confirm Restore the version from that day by selecting Restore.
Yori shows "Restored the version from" that day, with Undo. Restoring adds a new version, so nothing is lost. Only the creator can restore, and not while the profile is building. If there are no saved versions yet, the panel says so.
Use in new projects
Your default Brand Profile is preselected in every new project you create. Existing projects keep their own choices.
- From the profile: turn on Use in new projects in Details. Yori confirms "New projects will use this brand profile". Turn it off to stop.
- From the list: open a row's menu and select Use in new projects or Stop using in new projects.
Either way, Yori shows Undo in case you change your mind. The profile shows a Default tag in the Brand profiles list, and the page header names it.
The switch on the profile only appears on profiles you created. To use a profile someone shared with you as a default, use its row menu or Project defaults. To choose several default Brand Profiles, use Project defaults. See Project context and defaults.
Delete a Brand Profile
- Open Brand profile actions and select Delete. You can also select Delete in the row menu on the list.
- Confirm Delete followed by the profile name by selecting Delete brand profile.
Projects that already use it keep their copy. If it was your default, the window warns you that Yori won't use a default Brand Profile until you choose another. The profile is permanently removed and can't be restored, and if it was shared, teammates lose access too.
