Audiences

Describe the organisations and people you want to reach so Yori tailors every message to them.

On this page7 sections

An Audience describes who you want to reach: the kind of organisation, its size and location, the sectors it works in, and the people inside it with what gets in their way, what they need and what they want. Yori researches and builds each Audience for you. When you choose an Audience for a project, Yori shapes its writing around those people.

Where to find it

Select Knowledge in the sidebar. Yori opens Audiences first. You can also select Audience among the create shortcuts on the Home page, which opens Audiences with the create window ready.

What you'll see on the list

The page header reads Audiences with the line "The people you write for, and what they care about." When you have a default, the line also names it, for example "Retail operations leaders is used in new projects." On the right is the Add audience button, which opens the create window. See Create an Audience.

Below the header:

  • Search audiences: filters the list by name as you type. Matching letters are highlighted. Select the clear button, or press Esc, to clear it.
  • Filter tabs: All, Created by me and Shared with me, each with a count.
  • The list: one row per Audience, newest first, under the columns Audience, People in it, Who can use it and Updated.

Each row shows:

  • The Audience name, with a one-line summary under it.
  • People in it: the people Yori wrote up, or Not yet if it isn't built.
  • Who can use it: Only you, Whole team, or Shared by and the owner's name.
  • Updated: such as Just now, Today, Yesterday, 3 days ago or a date.
  • A More button (the three dots) with the row's actions.

Rows can also show:

Marker Meaning
Default This is the Audience new projects start with. Hover it to see "Used in new projects"
Building Yori is still building it. The row says what it's reading, such as "Reading the brief". The list updates on its own when it finishes
Couldn't finish Building stopped or failed. The row says "Something went wrong while writing the people. Your brief is saved." If you created it, select Try again to reopen the create window with your brief
Demo An example Audience

When an Audience finishes building, its row briefly lights up and Yori shows a message such as "Retail operations leaders is ready" with an Open button.

Select any row to open the Audience.

The row menu

Select the three dots on a row to see:

  • Open
  • Use in new projects, or Stop using in new projects if it's already your default. This appears once the Audience has finished building.
  • Share with team or Make private (creator only). See Share Audiences.
  • Delete (creator only, not while it's building). Confirm with Delete audience.

On an Audience someone else created, the menu ends with a note such as "Only Sam can change or delete this."

Default and sharing changes show a message with Undo, in case you change your mind.

Empty and error states

  • No Audiences yet: "Who are you writing for?", with an Add audience button.
  • A search with no results: "No audiences match" followed by your search, with Clear search.
  • Created by me with nothing in it: "Nothing created by you yet".
  • Shared with me with nothing in it: "Nothing shared with you yet".
  • The list can't load: "Couldn't load your audiences", with Try again.

What's inside an Audience

An Audience page has four sections:

Section What it covers
In one line The sentence Yori leads with when it describes this Audience
Who they are The businesses in this Audience: Type of business, Size, Where, Sectors and What they share
Good and poor fit Who to aim for (Good fit) and who to leave out (Poor fit)
The people The people Yori is really talking to inside these businesses. Each person has a short description and four lists: What gets in the way, What they need, What they want and What moves them

"Good fit" and "Poor fit" describe the organisations that suit you best and least, which helps Yori focus your messaging. When there's more than one person, you switch between them with the tabs at the top of The people.

For the full walkthrough, see Edit an Audience.

What you can do

Task Who can do it Guide
Create an Audience Anyone in the workspace Create an Audience
Edit sections, add or remove people, rebuild, restore a version The creator Edit an Audience
Use it in new projects Anyone who can see it, from the row menu or Project defaults. The creator can also use the switch on the Audience Edit an Audience
Share it with the team or make it private The creator, on the Business plan Share Audiences
Delete it The creator Edit an Audience

There's no option to duplicate an Audience. To make a variation, create a new one.

Use an Audience in your work

An Audience only shapes Yori's writing when it's selected for the project you're working in.

  • In a project: open Project context at the top of the chat and choose it under Audience. Yori uses it for that project's chats.
  • As a default: choose Use in new projects on the Audience or in its row menu. You can also select Configure in the same control to open Project defaults, choose it under Default audiences and select Save defaults. Every new project then starts with it selected. Existing projects keep their own choices.

If a default Audience is deleted or you lose access, Project defaults shows "A saved default is no longer available." Save the form to clear it or choose a replacement. See Project context and defaults.

Good to know

  • Each Audience belongs to the workspace you created it in.
  • Creating and rebuilding an Audience use credits. Editing by hand doesn't.
  • If you have default Brand Profiles, Yori uses them as background when it researches a new Audience, so the result fits what your business sells.
  • Enterprise admins can also manage Audiences for partners. See Partner knowledge.
