Workspace behaviour

Change your workspace name, web address and logo, and understand what those changes affect.

ForOrganisation admins

On this page10 sections

Your workspace has a name, a web address and a logo that everyone in it sees. Organisation admins can change all three on the Workspace settings page. Members can see the page, but can't change anything.

Where to find it

The Workspace settings page lives at your workspace address followed by /app/settings/workspace. For example, if your workspace URL is acme, go to /acme/app/settings/workspace on the Yori site.

Before you change anything, check the workspace name at the top of the account menu (select your name at the bottom of the sidebar). If you belong to more than one workspace, switch to the right one first. Changes only apply to the workspace you're in.

What you'll see

The page is headed Workspace, with the description "Manage your organisation profile, workspace URL, and logo." Underneath is one card, Workspace profile.

On the left you'll see the workspace logo. If there's no logo, Yori shows the workspace's initials instead.

  • Upload logo: choose an image from your computer. It's saved and shown straight away.
  • Remove logo: removes the current logo. Yori asks you to confirm ("Remove organisation logo? Your workspace will show its initials instead."). Select Remove logo to continue. This button is greyed out if there's no logo.

Logos must be PNG, JPEG or WebP images up to 4 MB.

Organisation name

The name of your workspace, shown in the sidebar, the account menu, People and invitation emails. It can't be empty.

Workspace URL

The short name that appears in your workspace's web address. Under the field, Yori shows how it will look, for example /acme/app.

A workspace URL must:

  • use only lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens
  • start and end with a letter or number
  • be 63 characters or fewer
  • not already be used by another workspace
  • not be a reserved word, such as app, admin, docs, help or support

As you type, Yori turns spaces into hyphens and capitals into lowercase letters. If the URL isn't allowed, a red message under the field tells you why.

Saving

Along the bottom of the card, Yori shows "You have unsaved changes." once you've edited the name or URL, and Save changes becomes available. Select it to save. If you try to leave the page with unsaved changes, your browser asks you to confirm.

When the save works, you'll see "Organisation settings updated."

Change the workspace name or URL

  1. Open the Workspace settings page.
  2. Edit Organisation name, Workspace URL or both.
  3. Check the preview under Workspace URL.
  4. Select Save changes.

If you changed the URL, Yori reloads the page at the new address.

What changes affect

  • Everyone sees the change. The name, URL and logo are shared by every member of the workspace. As the page says, "Changes take effect everywhere this workspace appears."
  • The web address changes. After you change the workspace URL, links and bookmarks that use the old address may stop working. Tell your team the new address and update any links you've shared.
  • Your work stays the same. Projects, chats, Knowledge, credits and members aren't affected.
  • Access stays the same. Changing workspace settings doesn't give anyone access to private projects or chats. Use People and roles for membership, and each Knowledge item's own sharing settings for who can see it.

If you're a member

You can open the Workspace settings page and see the logo, name and URL, but the fields are locked. You'll see "Only organisation admins can change the logo." and "Only organisation admins can update these settings." Ask an admin of your workspace to make the change.

The Organisation window

Admins can also manage the workspace from the Organisation window ("Manage your organisation."). Open Settings, choose People, then open More actions on any row and select Account settings. This window lets you update the organisation's profile and manage members and invitations. See People and roles.

Delete a workspace

Admins can delete the workspace they are in. Open Settings, choose Workspace, then select Delete workspace. Type the workspace's name to confirm, then select Delete workspace again.

  • This deletes the workspace with its projects, chats, documents and Knowledge. Everyone in it loses access, and you can't undo it.
  • Afterwards Yori opens another workspace you belong to. If you have none, it takes you to workspace setup.
  • On Pro or Business, cancel the plan in Plans & credits first. You'll see "Cancel the plan in Plans & credits first. You can delete the workspace after the plan ends."
  • A workspace that is part of an Enterprise can't be deleted here. Ask your Enterprise admin.

Create another workspace

To start a separate workspace, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Create organisation. You become its admin. See Organisations and workspaces.

Troubleshooting

  • "Workspace URL is already taken.": another workspace uses that URL. Try a different one.
  • "Workspace URL is reserved.": that word is kept for Yori's own pages. Choose another.
  • "Logo not updated": check the file is a PNG, JPEG or WebP image no bigger than 4 MB, then try again.
  • "Changes not saved": check your connection and select Save changes again. Your edits stay in the fields.
