Create a project whenever you start a new piece of work, and use the Projects list to move between them. This page covers every way to create, find, organise and delete projects.

Create a project

There are three ways to create a project.

From the sidebar

  1. Select New project in the sidebar.
  2. In Name this project, type a name in Project name, for example "Q3 launch plan".
  3. Select Create project.

The new project opens, ready for your first chat.

From the Projects list

  1. Select Projects in the sidebar.
  2. Select New project at the top of the list.
  3. In Create project, give the project a name and select Create project.

From the Home message box

  1. On Home, type your request in the message box.
  2. Open the project picker next to the message box and choose Add new project.
  3. Send your message.

Yori creates a project named after the start of your message and opens your new chat inside it. A project created with the default name New Project gets a better name automatically after your first message. See Home dashboard.

Project names

  • A name is required and can be up to 80 characters.
  • A name can't include a forward slash or a backslash.
  • You can change the name at any time.

New projects start with your Project defaults for Brand Profiles, Audiences and language, if you have set them.

Find and switch projects

Select Projects in the sidebar, or View all in Continue working on Home. The Projects window opens with the description "Find, sort and manage your projects."

Control What it does
Search projects or tags… Finds projects by name or tag.
All and Pinned Shows every project, or only pinned ones.
Tags Filters by one or more tags. Choose Clear tag filters to reset.
Sort menu Orders projects by Recommended, Recently modified, Recently created or Name A–Z.
Columns Project, Created and Modified. Select a column heading to sort by it.
Rows per page Shows 10, 25, 50 or 100 projects per page, with page buttons below.

Select a project to open it. Pinned projects show a pin icon.

If you have no projects yet, the list says No projects yet. Create one to get started. If nothing matches your search, it says No projects match your search or filters.

Before you send a message or import a file, check the project name at the top of Project documents. Each project keeps its own chats and documents.

Manage a project

In the Projects list, open a project's ... menu (Open actions for the project). You'll see:

  • Pin or Unpin: keeps the project at hand under Pinned.
  • Manage tags: adds or removes tags.
  • Rename: opens Rename project. Type the new name and select Save.
  • Delete: deletes the project.

You can also rename the open project from the sidebar. Select Edit project name next to the name at the top of Project documents, type the new name, then press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.

Tags

Tags help you group projects, for example by client or quarter.

  1. Choose Manage tags from the project's menu, or Add tags in the project row.
  2. In Manage tags for the project, open Select or create project tags and pick existing tags.
  3. To make a new tag, type its name and choose Create followed by the name. In Create project tag, check the name, pick a Tag colour and select Create tag.
  4. Select Save tags.

Each tag in the list has its own menu with Edit and Delete. Editing a tag changes it everywhere it's used. Deleting a tag asks you to confirm with Delete tag and removes it from every project that uses it.

Delete a project

  1. In the Projects list, open the project's menu and choose Delete.
  2. Read the warning: the project will be permanently deleted. This can't be undone.
  3. Select Delete project to confirm, or Cancel.

Deleting a project removes its chats and documents with it. There is no archive for projects, so download anything you want to keep first. You can export documents from Canvas and download a chat with Download conversation.

Manage chats in a project

A project can hold many chats. Select Chats in the project sidebar to see them all. The open chat is highlighted, and each chat shows how long ago it was last used.

  • New chat starts a fresh chat in the same project. It uses the same project context and starts in the mode you last picked, or Fast if you have never changed it. If the open chat has no messages yet, New chat puts you in that chat instead of making another empty one.
  • Select Search chats, or press ⌘ Shift . (Ctrl Shift . on Windows) from anywhere in the project, and type to filter by name. The chat that Enter opens is marked with ↵. Press Esc once to clear what you typed, and again to close the search. If nothing matches, select Clear search.
  • Select a chat to open it.
  • Open a chat's ... menu, or right-click it, for Pin, Rename or Delete. Pinned chats stay at the top of the list and show a pin.
  • While Yori replies in a chat, its row shows a spinner. If you open another chat before the reply ends, the spinner stays until the reply ends.
  • A dot marks a chat with a reply you have not seen yet. The dot goes when you open the chat. While Files is showing, a dot on Chats tells you that a chat has a new reply.

With the keyboard, use ↑ and ↓ to move through the list, Enter to open a chat, F2 to rename it and Delete (on a Mac, ⌘ Backspace) to delete it. Shift F10 opens a chat's menu.

Deleting a chat asks you to confirm. The chat and all its messages are permanently deleted, and this can't be undone. If you delete the chat that is open, the next chat in the list opens. If a chat was deleted somewhere else, for example in another tab, Yori tells you it no longer exists and removes it from the list.

Yori names new chats for you after the first message. You can rename a chat at any time from the chat list or by selecting its name in the chat's top bar.
