Make Yori look the way you like, try new features before they're switched on for everyone, and pick up the habits that get the best results. These are personal settings, so changing them doesn't affect anyone else in your workspace.
Choose a theme
- Select Settings in the left sidebar.
- Under Preferences, choose Appearance.
- Under Theme, select one of the three previews:
- Light: a light background with dark text.
- Dark: a dark background with light text.
- System: matches your device. Yori switches between light and dark when your computer or phone does.
The change happens straight away. There's no save button.
Your theme is saved to this browser only. Other devices and browsers keep their own setting, so you can use dark on your laptop and light on your phone.
Choose a layout
Under Layout, pick how Yori's navigation is arranged:
- Classic: one sidebar with everything in it. This is how Yori starts.
- Icon rail: a slim bar of icons down the left, one for each area. Selecting an area opens a panel beside the bar with that area's pages.
- Open Settings and choose Appearance under Preferences.
- Under Layout, select Classic or Icon rail.
The layout changes straight away, and you can switch back at any time. Every page works the same in both layouts. Only the way you move around changes. See Workspace navigation for how the Icon rail works.
Like your theme, your layout is saved to this browser only.
Getting started
Getting started collects everything that helps you find your way around Yori. Open Settings and choose Getting started under Help. It has three parts.
The welcome
The welcome is six short slides on Home, projects, Knowledge, the message box and credits. New users see it when they first arrive. To watch it again, select Show the welcome again. Settings closes and the slides open.
Your checklist
The checklist suggests a few things to try. You can do them in any order, or not at all. Each item ticks itself off once you've done it.
| Item | Hint |
|---|---|
| Add a brand profile | Tell Yori how you sound and what you sell |
| Start a project | Ask Yori for anything on Home |
| Create a document | Ask for a post, an email or a page |
| Add an audience | Tell Yori who you're writing for |
| Set project context | Pick a brand and audience for a project |
| Run a service | Type $ in the message box |
| Generate an image | Try Image and video |
Select an item to go to the right place in Yori to do it.
The Show in sidebar switch controls whether the checklist also appears in your sidebar. It's on by default for new users and off for everyone else, and it follows your account to any device.
Habits that help Yori
Four short tips for better results:
- Keep work inside projects: chats, files, Brand Profiles, Audiences and Canvas output stay together when the work has a project home.
- Attach context early: pick the Brand Profile and Audience before asking for campaign assets so Yori can reuse them.
- Use files as source material: upload service pages, sales notes, event briefs or collateral before asking Yori to draft from them.
- Follow up while context is warm: quick follow-ups reuse recently loaded project context and usually respond faster.
The Get started card in the sidebar
When Show in sidebar is on, a Get started card sits near the bottom of the left sidebar. It shows how many items you've done, a progress bar and what to try next, for example "Next: add a brand profile". When you finish an item it briefly shows "Done", for example "Done: add a brand profile". Once everything's ticked off, it reads All set and "You've tried the basics."
- Select the card to open the full checklist. It says "A few things to try. Do them in any order, or not at all."
- To hide the card, hover over it and select the X (Hide Get started). Yori shows "Get started hidden. Find it again in Settings, Getting started." with an Undo button if you change your mind straight away.
- When the sidebar is collapsed, the card shrinks to a small circle showing your progress. Select it to open the checklist.
To bring the card back later, turn Show in sidebar on again in Getting started.
Tooltips
Many buttons, especially icons in the sidebar and toolbars, show a short label when you hover over them or move to them with the keyboard. When the sidebar is collapsed, hovering over an icon shows the name of that section.
