Project chat is where you ask Yori to research, plan, write and edit. Every chat uses the project's context and can read and write the project's documents, so the work stays in one place.
The message box
The message box (composer) sits at the bottom of the chat. Its placeholder reads Ask Yori for anything, / menu, @ files and $ services. You can start typing anywhere in the chat, and your text goes straight into the message box.
From left to right you'll find:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| + (Open command menu) | Opens the command menu. |
| Text area | Where you type. It grows as you write. |
| Mode picker | Shows the current mode, such as Thinking. Select it to change mode. |
| Start dictation (microphone) | Lets you speak your message. |
| Send message | Sends your message. While Yori is working it changes to Stop generating or Send now. |

The command menu
Type / or select + to open the command menu. Keep typing to filter it.
- Import documents: adds files from your computer to this project. See Project files and imports.
- Project documents: browse files and folders in this project and add one to your message.
- Services: add a reusable Yori Service to the message. This is unavailable if you have no Services.
Below these, the menu lists your Services and project documents so you can pick one directly.
Mention documents with @
Type @ followed by part of a document's name, then choose it from the list. The document appears as a chip in your message, and Yori reads it when it replies. You can add several documents to one message.
Add a Service with $
Type $ followed by part of a Service's name, then choose it. The Service appears as a chip, and Yori follows that Service's instructions for this message. See Services.
Fast and Thinking modes
Select the mode picker (its tooltip reads Intelligence) to choose how Yori works:
| Mode | Description in the app | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fast | Fast and efficient. | Quick edits, short answers, simple questions. |
| Thinking | Thinks for longer answers. | Strategy, long drafts, research and complex tasks. |
New chats start in Fast. When you pick a mode, it is saved for that chat and your next new chats start in it too. Some workspaces also see Adaptive ("Adapts based on task."), which lets Yori decide.
Dictation
- Select Start dictation. The first time, your browser asks for microphone access.
- Speak. A waveform shows while Yori listens.
- Select Send dictation to turn your speech into text in the message box, or Discard dictation to throw it away.
Check the text, then send it. If the microphone is blocked, you'll see "Microphone access is blocked. Allow it in your browser settings to dictate." If Yori hears nothing, you'll see "We didn't catch any speech. Try again."
Drafts
Each chat keeps its own unsent text. If you switch to another chat and come back, your draft is still in the message box.
Attachments
In project chats you don't attach files to a single message. Instead, import them into the project with Import documents, then mention them with @. Imported documents stay in the project for every chat to use.
While Yori works
After you send a message, a row at the top of Yori's reply reads Working for and a timer. When Yori finishes it reads Worked for and the total time. Select the row to see each step Yori took.
Time spent waiting for your answers or approvals is excluded from working time.
Steps are named for what happened, for example:
- Searching the web and Reading URL
- Searching documents, Reading a document, Creating document, Editing a document
- Writing first draft
- Checking writing for AI slop, Yori's check for generic, low-quality AI phrasing
- Loaded service when a Service you added is used
- Saving to memory or Removing from memory
- Checking connected apps, Running an app action, or Creating a sign-in link for an app
- Running command
A step that fails shows a label starting with "Couldn't", such as Couldn't read document.
When Yori writes or edits a document, it opens in the right-hand panel and you can watch it being written. See Canvas.
Copywriter
When you ask for a new piece of content, such as a blog post or an email, Yori first asks its questions, gathers your material and does any research. It then hands the first draft to the Copywriter, a specialist writing model, shown as the Writing first draft step. The Copywriter follows your Brand Profile, Audiences, language, Rules and the Service you're using.
Yori then checks the draft and makes every later change itself, so edits you ask for work as usual. A first draft written this way uses more credits than a normal reply. If the Copywriter isn't available, Yori writes the draft itself.
Stop or redirect a reply
- To stop Yori, clear the message box and select Stop generating. The message box shows Stopping… until Yori stops.
- To change direction without stopping, type a new message and select Send now. Yori takes your new message into account straight away.
Queued messages
Sometimes Yori can't take a new message straight away, for example while it is stopping. Your message then waits in a queued list above the message box, and Yori sends it when it's ready. You can queue up to 5 messages.
- Select Edit on a queued message to move it back into the message box.
- Select Remove to delete it from the queue.
- If a message fails, the queue pauses with "Queue paused after a failed message. Review the error, then resume." Select Resume to carry on.
Things that appear in chat
Questions from Yori
When Yori needs details before it starts, it asks one or more questions in a card above the message box.
- Choose an answer for each question, or type your own in Something else….
- Use the arrows to move between questions, or select Continue.
- Select Send on the last question.
Select Skip to skip a question, or Dismiss to close the card.
Plans to approve
For larger tasks, Yori may propose a plan first. While a plan is waiting, the message box changes:
- Copy plan copies the plan to your clipboard.
- Approve tells Yori to start working.
- To ask for changes, type them in Suggest changes to the plan. The button then reads Approve with notes, which approves the plan and passes your notes to Yori.
Web research and sources
When Yori searches the web or reads pages, its reply can include numbered citations. Select a citation to see its source. Select Open sources in the reply's actions to see every source in the Sources window, with a link to each page.
Connected apps
If you have connected apps such as email or calendar tools, Yori can look things up or take actions in them during a chat. If an app isn't connected yet, Yori can create a sign-in link for you in the chat. See Connectors.
Images
Replies can include images. To create new images or videos, use Image and video.
Work with replies and messages
Each message has a row of actions underneath it.
| Action | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Copy message | Your messages and Yori's replies | Copies the text. |
| Retry response | Yori's replies | Asks again with the same words. The earlier attempt stays in the chat. Hidden while Yori is waiting for you to answer questions or approve a plan. |
| Provider policies | Yori's replies, when available | Shows which AI provider handled the reply, with links to its Privacy, Terms and Status pages. |
| Open sources | Replies that used sources | Lists the sources behind the reply. |
| Credits | Below Yori's replies | Shows the credits the reply used. |
You can't edit a message after sending it in current chats. To change your request, send a new message or use Retry response. Some older chats still show Edit message.
Ask Yori about part of a reply
- Select some text in one of Yori's replies.
- Select Ask Yori (Ask Yori about this selection).
- The passage is attached above the message box.
- To add another passage, select more text in any reply and select + Add to message. Repeat for as many passages as you need.
- Type your question and send. With several passages, your message applies to all of them.
To drop a passage before sending, select Remove attached passage (×) on it.
In a document, Ask Yori works differently: you write each change right under the text and send several together. See Ask Yori about a passage.
Download a chat
Select Download conversation in the chat's top bar to save the chat as a Markdown file. On a phone the button is hidden; use a computer or a wider window.
Long chats
In a long chat, Yori summarises older messages so it can keep working. You'll see a divider reading Earlier messages summarized. Your earlier messages are still on screen, but Yori works from the summary of them. If a detail from early on matters, repeat it or start a new chat with a short recap.
Credits used in a project
Each reply from Yori uses credits.
- Under each reply, select the wallet icon (Credits used) to see what that reply used, for example "1.2 credits".
- The credits chip in the chat's top bar shows the total used in the project, for example 0.4 credits used. Select it to see Credits used in this project, plus This chat and Last reply. Right after a reply, the total may show Updating for a few seconds.
When you run out, a chat message says You're out of credits. with a View plans & credits button. Non-AI parts of Yori, such as reading and editing your documents, keep working. See Out of credits and Credits and billing.
