This guide takes you from signing up to writing your first draft. It covers creating an account, setting up a new workspace and brand profile, joining a team that already uses Yori, and the welcome window and checklist you see when you first arrive.
Before you start
You need a modern web browser and an email address. A work email is best: once your workspace verifies your company email domain, teammates on that domain can find it, and Yori uses it to suggest your company website.
A new account comes with a free trial. The sign-up page says: "Try Yori free for a month. You get 25 credits and no card is needed." See Plans and features for what happens after the trial.
Create your account
The sign-up page has the steps on the left and a preview of your brand profile on the right. On smaller screens the preview is hidden and only the steps show.
- Go to the Yori sign-up page. If you already have an account, select Sign in at the bottom of the card instead.
- Choose how to sign up:
- Continue with Microsoft, the first option, if your company uses Microsoft 365. You sign in with your work account and don't need a code.
- Continue with Google to use a Google work account.
- Or enter your Work email and select Continue with email.
- If you used email, Yori sends you a 6-digit code. Type or paste it into the boxes on the Check your email screen. The code is checked as soon as all six digits are in, or you can select Verify.
- If Yori asks for more details, the Nearly there screen appears. Enter your First name, Last name and a Password of at least 8 characters, then select Continue. Names can include letters from any language, spaces, hyphens and apostrophes, as in O'Brien. They can't include symbols such as angle brackets, semicolons, equals signs or quotation marks.
Good to know about the code:
- Codes last 10 minutes. If a code expires, you'll see "This code has expired." Select Send a new code.
- You can ask for a new code after 30 seconds by selecting Resend code. You'll see New code sent when it's on its way.
- If you typed the wrong address, select Use a different email or your browser's Back button.
- If you reload the page, you stay on the code step and can use the code you already have.
- If the email already has an account, you'll see "You already have an account with this email." Select Sign in instead.
- If you enter a personal email address, Yori reminds you that "Using a work email lets teammates find your workspace."
By continuing, you agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy linked at the bottom of the card.
The sign-in page, headed Welcome back, works the same way: Continue with Microsoft comes first, then Continue with Google, and below them you can enter your email to get a 6-digit code. If there's no account for the address, you'll see "There's no Yori account with this email." with a link to create one. If you were invited to a workspace, sign in with the address the invitation was sent to so Yori can find it.
Join your team
If someone has invited you, or a team that already uses Yori has verified your email domain, you see Your team is already here straight after creating your account.
- Each workspace shows its name, how many people are in it and your role (Admin or Member). Workspaces you weren't invited to but can join because of your email domain show Suggested for your email.
- The panel on the right previews the brand profile your team already shares, so you can see how Yori will write for them.
To join:
- Select the workspace you want.
- Select Join followed by the workspace name.
Yori opens the workspace's Home. You don't need to set up a brand profile, because your team already has one.
If you would rather start your own workspace, select Create a separate workspace and continue with the next section. If the invitation has expired, you'll see "This invitation is no longer available. Ask the workspace admin to send a new one."
You can also accept invitations later from the workspace menu. See Organisations and workspaces.
Set up your workspace and brand profile
If you are starting fresh, Yori sets up your workspace and starts your brand profile in three short steps. With a website, the progress bar at the top of the card reads "Step 1 of 3 · Your brand profile". Without one, the card reads "Your brand profile" and Continue takes you straight into Yori. The panel on the right fills in a live preview as you type.
Step 1: Tell us about your business
Fill in three fields. Only Business name is needed: IT provider type starts filled in, and Website is optional.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Business name | Your company name, up to 100 characters. Your workspace uses the same name. Underneath, you see the web address your workspace will use, for example askyori.ai/your-business. A tick means the address is free. If another workspace already has that address, Yori adds a number, such as askyori.ai/your-business-2. |
| IT provider type | Starts as Managed Service Provider (MSP). To change it, pick Value-Added Reseller (VAR), Vendor, Distributor, Systems Integrator, Cloud Services Provider or Managed Security Services Provider. If none fits, type your own and select Create to add it. |
| Website | Your website address, such as example.com. If you signed up with a work email, Yori fills in your email's domain. Tap the field once to select it, then type to replace it. Yori tidies pasted addresses for you and shows a tick when it can reach the site. No website? Leave it empty and select Continue: your workspace opens without a brand profile, and you can add one later. |
Then select Continue. If a field needs a change, Yori moves you to it and shows the reason under it.
Your answers stay in the form if you reload the page, until your workspace is made. Once you continue, the web address is fixed. An admin can change the workspace name and address later in Workspace settings.
Step 2: Add supporting documents
This step is optional. Brochures, slide decks or case studies give Yori more detail about what you offer and how you talk about it.
- Drag files onto the box or select it to browse. On a phone or tablet, the box says Choose files.
- You can add PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT or Markdown files, up to 8 files. Each file can be up to 12 MB (2 MB for TXT and Markdown), and 50 MB in total.
- Remove a file with the cross next to its name.
If you have no documents, that's fine. Yori uses your website as the main source. Select Continue to move on, or Back to change your business details.
Step 3: Review and generate
The Ready to build your brand profile? screen lists your business name, website, IT provider type and how many documents you added. Select Edit next to any line to change it.
Select Generate brand profile to start. Yori researches your business in the background, which takes a few minutes. You don't need to wait.
Skip brand setup
On the first and last steps you can select Skip brand setup. Yori still creates your workspace, but without a brand profile. You can add one any time from Knowledge. See Create a brand profile.
To leave setup without a workspace, select Sign out at the top of the page, next to your email address.
Opening Yori
After you select Generate brand profile, the card shows Yori is building your brand profile with its progress:
- Researching your website
- Reading your documents, if you added any
- Writing positioning, offerings and voice
Select Open Yori to go straight in, or wait: Yori opens automatically after 10 seconds. The countdown pauses while your pointer is over the card. The research keeps running even if you close the tab.
You then see Setting up followed by your workspace name, with a short checklist, and Yori opens your workspace's Home.
If something goes wrong, you'll see a message such as "We couldn't open Yori. Check your connection and try again." Select Try again. If you leave part way through sign-up, Yori takes you back to the step where you stopped next time you sign in.
When your brand profile is ready
While Yori researches, a Building brand profile card sits near the bottom of the sidebar with a progress bar and a percentage. Select the card to open the profile.
- When research finishes, you get a message: "Your brand profile is ready". Select Open profile to see it. New chats now write in that voice. The sidebar card changes to Brand profile ready. Select it to open the profile, or select the cross to dismiss it.
- If research stops, the sidebar card shows Couldn't finish brand profile and the reason, for example "Yori couldn't find enough about this business on example.co.uk." Select Try again on the card.
See Brand profiles to review and edit what Yori wrote.
The welcome window
The first time you open Yori after signing up or joining a team, a short welcome window appears over Home. It has six slides:
- Ask Yori for anything: describe what you need on Home and Yori writes it in your brand's voice. Pick Fast for quick jobs or Thinking for longer, better answers.
- Your work lives in projects: each project keeps its chats and documents side by side.
- Teach Yori once: Knowledge, including brand profiles, Audiences and Rules, shapes every draft.
- Bring in what Yori needs: type
/for the menu,@to use a document or file from your projects, and$to choose a service. - Credits and your free trial (or Credits if you're on a paid plan): each reply uses credits, and you can see what's left in Settings, Plans & credits.
- Try anything. Ask Yori if you're stuck.
Move between slides with Next and Back, the dots at the bottom, or the left and right arrow keys. Select Skip or the close button to leave early. On the last slide, select Start writing to close the window and jump to the Home message box.
To see the welcome again, open Settings, choose Getting started and select Show the welcome again.
The Get started checklist
New users see a Get started card at the bottom of the sidebar. It suggests seven things to try, in any order, or not at all:
| Item | What it suggests | Where it takes you |
|---|---|---|
| Add a brand profile | Tell Yori how you sound and what you sell | Brand profiles in Knowledge |
| Start a project | Ask Yori for anything on Home | Home |
| Create a document | Ask for a post, an email or a page | Home |
| Add an audience | Tell Yori who you're writing for | Audiences in Knowledge |
| Set project context | Pick a brand and audience for a project | Your most recent project, or Home |
| Run a service | Type $ in the message box |
Home |
| Generate an image | Try Image and video | Image and video |
How it works:
- The card shows how many items you've done, for example "2 of 7", a progress bar and the next suggestion. When you finish an item it briefly shows "Done" with the item name.
- Select the card to open the full list, then select any item to go there. Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the list.
- Items tick themselves off as you use Yori. If a teammate has already added a brand profile or Audience to the workspace, those items count as done.
- When everything is done, the card reads All set and "You've tried the basics."
- When the sidebar is collapsed, the card shrinks to a small circle showing your progress, such as 2/7.
Who sees the checklist
Only people who are new to Yori see the checklist automatically: people who sign up, and people joining their first workspace. If you used Yori before the checklist arrived, it stays hidden unless you turn it on.
Hide or show the checklist
- To hide it, select the cross on the card, Hide checklist at the bottom of the list, or Hide once everything is done. You'll see "Get started hidden" with an Undo button.
- To bring it back, or to turn it on if you've never seen it, open Settings, choose Getting started and switch on Show in sidebar. The same page shows the full checklist and a few habits that help Yori.
- Go to the Yori sign-in page. It reads "Welcome back. Your projects are waiting."
- Sign in with the same method you used to sign up.
- Yori opens your workspace's Home.
If you have no workspace yet, Yori takes you to workspace setup. If you belong to more than one workspace, switch between them from the workspace menu. See Organisations and workspaces.
Good to know
- When you join a team, your projects and chats stay private to you. See Projects, chats and context.
- If an Enterprise set up your partner workspace and named you as its first admin, Yori asks you to Review this partner workspace when you first open it. Select Open workspace details, check the organisation name and workspace URL, then select Continue. Colleagues who join later go straight in.
