Create a Brand Profile

Give Yori a business name, website and optional documents, and it researches and writes the Brand Profile for you.

On this page6 sections

You create a Brand Profile by telling Yori which business it's for. Yori then researches the business website and any documents you add, and writes a full first version for you to review. It usually takes a few minutes, and you can keep working while it runs.

Before you start

Have these ready:

  • The business name.
  • The business website. It's required, because Yori researches the site and pulls the visual brand from it.
  • The type of IT provider the business is, such as MSP or VAR.
  • Optional: documents that explain the business better than its website, such as a capability statement, a company overview deck or brand guidelines.

Creating a Brand Profile uses credits. If you don't have enough, Yori saves your details but tells you it couldn't start, and you can try again later from the profile page.

Create a Brand Profile

  1. Open Knowledge, then Brand profiles.
  2. Select Add brand profile. The Create brand profile window opens. Across the top it shows three steps: Business details, Documents and Review. On larger screens, a preview on the right fills in as you type.
  3. On Tell us about the business, fill in all three fields:
    • Business name: for example, your organisation name.
    • IT provider type: choose VAR, MSP, Vendor, Distributor, Systems Integrator, Cloud Services Provider or Managed Security Services Provider, or type your own.
    • Website: type the address after the https:// label, such as example.com. If you paste a full address, Yori removes the https:// part for you.
  4. Select Next.
  5. On Add supporting documents, add files if you have them, or skip this step. Drag files onto the box that says Drop documents here, or select Choose files. To take a file out, select the remove button next to it.
  6. Select Next.
  7. On Ready to create the brand profile?, check the summary of business name, website, IT provider type and how many documents you added. Select Back to change anything.
  8. Select Generate brand profile.

Yori creates the profile, closes the window and opens the new profile page, where you can watch it being built.

To leave without creating anything, select Cancel on the first step or close the window. Your entries are cleared.

Supported documents

Limit Value
File types PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT or Markdown
Number of files Up to 8
Size Up to 12 MB per file (2 MB for TXT and Markdown), 50 MB in total

Yori reads each document in full alongside its research on the website. Claims that come from a document list it in their sources.

If a file can't be added, Yori names the file and says why, for example that it's empty, too large or an unsupported type.

If something's missing

If you select Next with a field empty or a website that doesn't look right, Yori highlights the field and shows one of these messages:

  • "Enter a business name."
  • "Choose an IT provider type."
  • "Enter a website." or "Enter a valid website, such as example.com."

While Yori builds the profile

The profile page shows Building this profile, with a progress bar, a live status line and four steps that tick off as Yori works:

  1. Getting ready
  2. Reading the website and your sources
  3. Writing the profile
  4. Saving it

The status line says what's happening, such as "Researching the business and reviewing its sources…", "Building your brand profile…" or "Saving your brand profile…".

You can leave the page. As the panel says, Yori keeps building in the background. In the Brand profiles list the row shows Building until it's done. If you're on the list when it finishes, Yori tells you the profile is ready, with an Open button. You can't edit the profile while it's being built.

Stop building

  1. Select Stop building in the panel.
  2. In Stop building, followed by the profile name, select Stop building to confirm, or Keep building to carry on.

Yori stops reading the website and shows Stopped building. You can rebuild the profile whenever you like.

When it's ready

The progress panel disappears and the profile fills in: a one-line summary, What stands out, and the five sections Positioning, What they sell, How they work with customers, How they sound and Why people trust them.

Read it through before you rely on it. Many fields have a small sources button, such as 3 sources, that lists the web pages or documents Yori used, so you can check where a claim came from. The Details panel beside the profile shows how many gaps Yori couldn't fill. To change anything, see Edit a Brand Profile.

To collect the business's logos, colours, fonts and pictures, select Make a brand kit at the top of the profile. See Brand kits.

New Brand Profiles are private (Only you), so only you can see them until you share them. See Share Brand Profiles.

If building didn't start or failed

  • Building didn't start: your details were saved but Yori couldn't start, for example because the connection dropped or you were out of credit. The profile page says "This profile is saved, but Yori couldn't start reading the website." Select Continue setup.
  • Some documents couldn't be added: the profile was saved but not every document uploaded. Open the profile and select Continue setup to see what was saved and add the rest.
  • Couldn't finish: the profile page says "Couldn't finish this profile." with the reason. Select Try again to build it again. In the list, the row shows Couldn't finish with its own Try again.

Continue setup

A profile that was saved but never built shows "This profile is saved, but Yori hasn't started reading the website yet." Below it, What Yori will fill in lists the five sections as Not started.

Select Continue setup on that notice, or in the Brand profile actions menu (the three dots). It opens Continue brand profile setup:

  1. Check the list of documents already saved. They're kept.
  2. Add any more documents. This window accepts PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT or Markdown, up to 8 files, 12 MB each (2 MB for TXT and Markdown) and 50 MB in total.
  3. Select Add sources and generate.

If a document fails to upload, Yori asks you to check the saved list before retrying, then shows Retry pending files and generate. If the saved list can't load, select Retry loading sources.
